I am 3 months postpartum with my 4th baby and am ready to get serious about my fitness and healthy eating journey.  With 4 little ones at home, being strong and full of energy is so important to me.

I was so excited to be offered the chance to review an advance copy of “Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight” by Joel Marion.  Joel is a bestselling author, fitness expert, and nutritionist who debunks myths concerning traditional diets and offers a simpler approach to sustainable weight loss.

For the next month, I will be sharing with you my experience with the book and diet changes as I follow along the program.  The Always Eat After 7 plan consists of 3 parts. It starts with an Acceleration Phase that is 14 days long to jumpstart healthy weight loss.  Phase 2 is the Main Phase where I will learn to implement healthy eating habits and get to a healthy goal weight.  Lastly, there is the third (and maintenance phase) – called the Lifestyle Phase.

One of the things that has always kept me away from most diets is the assumption that in order to achieve weight loss, I would have to restrict certain food groups.  I believe that a balanced diet is essential to healthy weight loss that can be sustained long after the “diet” is over.  In this book, I found that this is no ordinary weight loss plan.

Joel insists that restricting entire food groups doesn’t actually help weight loss: “So, despite all the bad press over the years, certain carbohydrates play an important role in balancing your hormones and regulating your metabolic rate, while avoiding the dreaded weight loss plateaus that accompany conventional mainstream diets. Furthermore, when you eat these carbohydrates, you’ll feel much better than you would if you were following a traditional diet.”

A diet that actually encourages carbs?? You can count me in! With that in mind, I’m ready to discover a new type of diet plan that will allow me to enjoy the foods I love and learn how to incorporate them into a lifestyle of healthy eating that I can sustain.

I’m choosing to follow this plan to help lose stubborn baby weight and have the energy to homeschool my 11-year-old, chase my toddler boys, and care for my baby girl.  I can’t wait to get started and update you on experience and progress next week.  Stay tuned for this mama’s journey to a better me!

Until then, here is a video that outlines Joel’s top tips for making this plan work:
