Hey guys! I am back, as promised, with an update on my healthy eating journey following the program in Joel Marion’s book “Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight.” I was lucky to be offered a chance to review an advanced copy to jumpstart my journey to a healthy weight.
The Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance. One of the hardest parts of most diets is that they are restrictive and not sustainable. But Joel challenges that perspective in the book: “Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a
miserable, unsustainable experience.”
My goal was to challenge myself to get serious about my fitness and healthy eating journey so that I can be full of energy for my life as a SAHM to 4 littles. I am happy to share that using the principles in Always Eat After 7PM, I not only have more energy for my day to day life, but I have also shed a substantial amount of my pregnancy weight gain!
This has been a result of keeping watch on the macros that I eat and also incorporating some of the recipes that Joel shares in the book. One of my favorite recipes from the book is the Chili Loaded Baked Potatoes! This is a lightened-up version of a childhood favorite my dad used to make, exchanging white potatoes for a savory Sweet Potato swap.

You may be wondering how a baked potato loaded with chili and savory toppings can be healthy? This plan is all about combining the perfect macronutrients needed to stabilize blood sugar and regulate cortisol to keep your body in fat-burning mode. And if you’re like me and struggle with knowing what to eat, then Joel already has that figured out! In the books, he provides easy-to-follow meal plans, recipe ideas, and food lists! Another key to success with this diet is knowing WHEN to eat to best keep your body satiated. The most challenging times to curb hunger are just before bed and in the morning. By following the Always Eat After 7PM program, you have the most willpower to stay on the diet because you are eating during the hours when you are most hungry. As a night owl, who frequently stays up late to work after everyone else in the house is in bed, this realization was a game-changer for me! I don’t have to go to bed hungry and wake up ready to eat a huge breakfast any longer. I eat balanced meals throughout the day, adding in a late night, macro-friendly snack and wake up still satisfied and ready to take on the day with my kids!
