In my previous UPDATE, I let you guys know that I was not only more energized but that I was also shedding pounds. I am happy to report that I am down a few more pounds and am ready to turn this eating plan into a lifestyle change!
One of the main reasons I chose this diet (you can read more here) was that it removes the barriers that can make other traditional diets so hard to stick with. The Always Eat After 7PM program makes dieting easy and eliminates 90% of reasons for resistance.
On my own journey, I’ve found that for me to be successful with a diet plan, I can’t restrict whole food groups. Eliminating whole food groups – carbs, meats, fats – does not work for me and only causes me to give up on the diet before I can see lasting results. Luckily on this plan, Joel encourages you not to focus on eliminating food groups; instead I focused on finding the right macronutrients to properly fuel my body and stay satisfied. That is the sweet spot for getting and keeping my body in a fat burning mode!
Joel talks about the limiting nature of most diets here: “Fact is, most diets are extremely narrow with regard to food choices and variety, and many even limit entire macronutrients altogether over the course of the entire program (think low-carb and low-fat diets). Three months with no carbs? No thanks. Such practices not only are entirely unnecessary, but make for a miserable, unsustainable experience.” Hearing a weight loss expert say what I’ve been thinking my entire adult life as I’ve jumped from diet to diet was so refreshing!
The diet in Always Eat After 7PM is anything but restrictive. I’ve been able to eat the foods I love, in large portions, and at the time of the day when my body is most naturally hungry (which is later rather than in the morning.) I have also loved trying many of the new recipes in the book. I’m looking forward to continuing to try new ones to keep things new and fun as I make this a lifestyle, instead of a diet! This plan WORKS.
