When the dust settles and the smoke clears, we will still be black in America.
I could write you a book about every awful micro-aggression that I’ve had said to me. Every negative stereotype that’s been vocalized in reference to my amazing husband. Even my kids have been victim to hateful words and assumptions.

But honestly, at this point, if you still don’t believe racism and white privilege are real and alive in America, then there is literally nothing I say that could convince you. It would just be wasted breath.
But for those of you who DO care, who are committed to changing the culture of your homes and the communities around you, just know that this work would be all for naught if it doesn’t continue when the feeds go back to normal and the hashtags aren’t trendy anymore. I hate that I have to say that, but I do.
So – much love friends, and please don’t forget what you are learning. Take this new information and apply it. Have hard conversations. And above all, constantly ask God to refine your heart and open both your spiritual eyes and physical ones.
Racism is an evil that has pervaded our world for literal centuries, so it’s going to take more than a few days. Let’s do this together.
