My family recently returned from an almost 2-week vacation to Walt Disney World, complete with a MAJOR ANNOUCEMENT! It was literally one of the best trips we have ever taken, but Disney magic with two toddlers (2.5 and 1) definitely requires an intense level of planning to guarantee a great time!
If you check out any tips for taking toddlers to Disney World, one of the most recommended items to have is a stroller. We definitely agree! Even at home, with our two busy toddlers, we rely on our stroller to take them just about everywhere we go. So, for Disney it was a no-brainer that we have a quality stroller for our vacation.
In all honesty, I’m kind of a stroller snob! I’m down for any investment that will make my life as a SAHM easier, especially since we are always on the go! We have owned at least 3 different double strollers in the last year and at home we currently use a Double BOB – which is literally the best stroller I have ever had. Well since we already own one, it sounds pretty simple right? Well, that is until we decided to drive the 8 hours to Orlando instead of fly. Bringing our stroller along would just about eliminate any trunk space and we had 2 weeks of luggage to pack. In comes Kingdom Strollers to the rescue!
Kingdom Strollers is a small, family-owned rental company local to Orlando, Florida. They offer rentals of multiple types of strollers (all guaranteed in compliance with Walt Disney World’s new stroller size regulations), cribs, and other bedding accessories for babies and toddlers. I love that they are family owned – this means that any questions/concerns you have can literally be directed to the owners of the company. THAT kind of customer service is so rare these days.
The Preparation
To start the process, I went to Kingdom Strollers’ website to browse their offerings. I knew exactly the type of stroller that I wanted, but for those who are not quite as sure, their site offers a wealth of information. You can check out the different single and double strollers that they offer. They even have a stroller specifically designed for kiddos with special needs! Each rental listing includes the pricing for the length of your trip, weight limit, and dimensions of the stroller. This helps you easily find the stroller that will meet your family’s needs.
One reason I chose Kingdom Strollers is because they are one of the only companies that provides complimentary accessories for their rentals. For example, our stroller came with a rain cover (lifesaver – it rains in Orlando almost every day!), a small cooler for water or snacks, and a parent console for the handlebar that held multiple drinks and had a zipper compartment for miscellaneous items, such as our phones and hand sanitizer. Some of the strollers even have a snack tray that can be requested. I also love that Kingdom Strollers includes a laminated sign with your family’s name (or a nickname if you choose) that is attached to the stroller. In the sea of strollers at Disney, it was so nice to always know at first glance exactly which stroller belonged to us! These seemingly small touches provided by Kingdom Strollers, that while don’t make or break a trip, definitely were BIG conveniences to have when traveling with toddlers.
The Process
Renting with Kingdom Strollers was simple! I located the stroller that I wanted, and entered our arrival and departure date, and the name of our hotel (Pop Century). Kingdom Strollers immediately sent a confirmation email for us to check the details to make sure everything was correct with instructions to contact them if anything needed to be changed.
All there was left to do was wait for our magical vacation!
The Pickup
We were set to arrive in Orlando late in the evening so we actually scheduled our stroller rental pickup for first thing the next morning. It was so easy – our emailed instructions from Kingdom Strollers told us to go to Bell Services at our resort. Our stroller was ready to go and came with instructions for how to fold/unfold/adjust it which was very helpful, given that many families rent strollers that they do not personally use at home. The first thing I noticed was that the stroller looked brand new and was in pristine condition! The wheels were fully inflated and oiled and able to turn very easily.
The Parks
For our Disney Trip we had 10 Day Park Hopper Tickets and were also on the Disney Dining Plan. We did the best that we could scheduling our plans to eliminate as much back and forth as possible, but Walt Disney World is huge — it was inevitable that we would have a lot of walking and moving from park to restaurant and resort.
Our Kingdom Stroller rental was an absolute lifesaver! It allowed us to be able to comfortably move from park to park with our toddlers, making all of our dining reservations and fast passes. At 2.5 and 1, they both still take daily naps. During our trip, both of them also took at least one nap per day each in the stroller which allowed us to keep touring the park with our pre-teen! Instead of having to leave to go back to the resort because they got overtired, we were able to comfortable recline both seats and pull down the sunshades to keep them cool in the September heat.
I watched a number of families struggling with small umbrella strollers that don’t recline in the parks. Not knocking that, but if you can upgrade to a stroller that is specifically designed for walking long distances you will not be disappointed. The wheels on the strollers that Kingdom Strollers offer are made for off road terrain, so they navigate all areas of Disney (inside and out) very well. Personally, I was looking for things that I knew would make the trip more enjoyable for us all and our rental from Kingdom Strollers definitely fit the bill.
On our departure day, dropping the stroller off was just as easy as picking it up. We took the stroller back to Bell Services, folded it, and left it there with the staff. Note: there was an option on the site for picking a different location for pickup than where it got delivered. So if you are doing a split stay and are staying at more than one resort, Kingdom Strollers will accommodate you in that was as well.
The Point
Renting with Kingdom Strollers was one of the best decisions we made for our Disney trip. Their customer service is incredible and the quality and variety of the rentals they offer is unmatched and very affordable. We will definitely rent with them again and again as our family continues to grow and we keep going back to Walt Disney World to experience the magic!
