Easy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

Friends, I have a confession to make…

My name is Krystin, and I used to be a shrimp hater!!

Shocking, I know, since this recipe is all about shrimp! All of my childhood, I literally convinced myself that I did not like shrimp. I tried all of the the types: fried, steamed, grilled, but still could not get with it at all! My sweet, sweet parents used to fix a totally different main dish for me when they made anything with shrimp because it was that deep. I just was not going to eat it!

Luckily when I got pregnant with my first kid, something changed, and all of a sudden I craved shrimp all day long! I even can remember waking up in the middle of the night to eat it cold (cooked haha) straight out of the fridge. Yep I was that pregnant lady!

I’m really glad my taste buds came to their senses because I never would have discovered this delicious easy cajun shrimp pasta! It is the perfect mix of flavor, aroma, and bite. And it has a SECRET INGREDIENT: prime rib seasoning! I know you are probably thinking, what on Earth?? But the prime rib seasoning is a GAME CHANGER! Give it a try and you won’t be sorry!

The best part about this shrimp pasta is that it can be put together and ready in under 30 minutes. That is a definite winner in the Godfrey house because mama ain’t trying to be in the kitchen all day!

And for all of my shrimp-hatin’ (or allergy necessary) friends, I got you! Any cooked protein will substitute well in place of shrimp. Just make sure to adjust the cooking time if your meat or fish is already cooked. One of my favorites is a mix of leftover baked chicken and diced smoked sausage. Ahhh! Now I need to go make that too….

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family does! Throw together an easy green salad and combine that with this pasta and a loaf of warm, crusty bread and you are guaranteed to have a crowd pleaser on your hands!

If you try this & love it, please share on social media or pin to Pinterest!

Easy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

This super easy Cajun Shrimp Pasta with a secret ingredient is absolutely delicious and is the perfect, quick weeknight meal to toss together for your family and friends!

  • 1 lb Raw Shrimp (thawed, peeled & deveined)
  • 1 lb Linguine pasta (cooked al dente’)
  • 1 15 oz Alfredo sauce (jarred)
  • 2 roma tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (seeded & diced)
  • 1 yellow bell pepper (seeded & diced)
  • 1 small red onion (diced)
  • 2 Tbsp prime rib seasoning (*see notes)
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • parsley as garnish
  • salt and pepper (to taste)
  1. Cook linguine noodles to al dente’, as directed on package. Drain. Don’t overcook!

  2. Heat olive oil in large skillet over medium-high heat

  3. Saute’ diced onions and peppers until slightly tender about 1 minute.

  4. Add thawed shrimp and sprinkle with 2 Tablespoons of prime rib seasoning and close to a teaspoon each of salt and black pepper. Saute’, stirring and flipping over constantly, for 1 minute.

  5. Add diced tomatoes and saute’ for 1 more minute.

  6. Pour Alfredo sauce gently into pan and stir. Lower heat and simmer until sauce begins to thicken.

  7. Place cooked pasta into pan with sauce and mix thoroughly until warm throughout.

  8. Remove from heat and stir in Tablespoon of butter. Mix pasta until butter melts. Salt and pepper to taste.

  9. Plate pasta and sprinkle with garnish with parsley flakes and ENJOY!

On the prime rib seasoning:  I usually do not suggest ingredients that aren’t readily available in most pantries, but this seasoning takes this pasta to an entirely, new level! Trust me and try it!  Any brand will do: I usually just get whatever is on sale at Publix. If you absolutely need to substitute, then 2 Tablespoons of Cajun seasoning will have a similar effect.
